Ducati SportClassic retro-styled motorcycles

It has been reported that one of Ducati's designs started with the Evoluzione, which is, the MH900e replica of Mike Hailwood's victorious 1978 Isle of Man TT bike.

Some of the differences of variations are based on similar frames, and powered by the Desmodue 992 cc air-cooled L-twin Ducati 1000 Dual Spark engine, also called the DS9 engine.

The other motorcycle is the Sport1000 which takes its inspiration from the tangerine yellow 1973 Ducati 750 Sport.

It also has the look of a classic lightweight single seat cafe racer. along with the front suspension of a Sport1000, while its retro-styled looks similar to the Paul Smart.

The other interesting thing is when Paul Smart rode the 750 Imola Desmo competition bike to victory in 1972. The 1974 750 SuperSport was based on the colors of the tank and sidepanels painted silver, fairing painted green and silver with a green frame.

It is interesting to see how the Ducati GT1000 uses a similar steel tubular trellis frame to the the Paul Smart and the Sport1000, and the same Desmodue 992 cc engine since it was designed with comfort in mind and intended for sport-touring riders.

As most enthusiast know the modern Ducatis remains among the most dominant performance motorcycles available today mostly because of the desmodromic valve design, and it is nearing its 50th year of use.

Ducati Hypermotard Motorcycle History

Back when the market moved toward larger motorcycles, Ducati management decided to introduce the 65TS cycle and Cruiser a four-stroke motor scooter at an early 1952 Milan show. The cruiser was not a great success despite being described as the most interesting new machine at the 1952 show.

Later on after several productions the first 2007 Hypermotard was available in two configurations:

Starting with the base 1100 model as well as the higher specification 1100S model. The thing about the more expensive 1100S is that it featured a durable low friction diamond-like carbon black coating to the front fork sliders, and not to mention it had an Öhlins remote reservoir rear shock, which happened to be the same Brembo Monobloc brake calipers used on the 1098, which had a lighter forged aluminium Marchesini wheels with a red pin-stripe, and Pirelli tires, plus carbon fibre fork protectors, timing belt covers, front mudguard fender and tail exhaust side panels.

In late 2009, Ducati introduced a new Hypermotard model called the 796 some of its features include a 20mm lower seat height (825mm) of a smaller capacity, due to a less powerful engine. It does have a Siemens fuel injection which is derived from the Monster and is great for the 800cc engine.

Currently in 2010, the Hypermotard 1100 has changed which has required the two models to receive new names so as to reflect the fact that the bike has evolved into the 1100 Evo and the more expensive 1100 Evo SP. Some features are a redesigned engine which is no longer Dual Spark and has Siemens fuel injection in place of the previous models Marelli system. As for the 2010 Hypermotard 1100 bike both are considered lighter than before, mostly due to the vacuum cast engine casings, lighter crankshaft, flywheel and alternator, but in the case of the rear subframe it has been redesigned so both bikes carry some carbon fibre.

DUCATI MONSTER

Ducati Monster exposed engine and frame Motorcycle

As a company in 2005, Monster sales accounted for over half of Ducati's worldwide sales this is most likely due to Ducati motorcycles using almost exclusively 90° V-Twin engines, which they call L-twins, with Desmodromic valves, that come in and tubular steel trellis frame, most of these features were designed by Fabio Taglioni from 1920 to 2001. So Ducati introduced three Monster models in its first generation: M600, M750 and M900.

The cool thing is that the bike remained unchanged until recently in 2000 Ducati added fuel injection to the M900 model. Then it was noted that Ducati introduced the S4, which added the liquid-cooled 4-valve Superbike engine to the stable in 2001. Other things that was added were the semi-floating front disc brakes with Brembo four-piston calipers, lighter Brembo wheels as well as 43 mm Showa inverted forks with 2002 introducing the limited, 300 edition, high-spec, S4 Fogarty

So if you are keeping track there are currently four models: the 696, 796, 1100, and 1100S and all have air cooled, two-valve engines. The latest and the greatest is with the Monster 696 being announced in November 2007 and officially launching in early April 2008 in Barcelona showcasing its 696 L-twin with a high power output per cc of any Ducati air cooled engine.
