Are we all crazy? Why do we put up with this crap? "Drive by" inspections an hours drive for, what? Come again? SIX DOLLARS EACH!!! Fannie Mae 6 page quality control jobs for $15? Insurance surveys for $12? When are we ALL going to wise up and start telling these people "NO! You will pay me a fee that I can live on!" I have done field inspections for 9 years and I have figured my average "wage" over a year. It's $10/hr. Yes folks, ten dollars per hour. And I put roughly 30K miles on my car per year. Now, I do write off my car as a business expense, but that still takes away from what I can put in my pocket. Unionize? I don't know if thats the answer. I think we just need to COLLECTIVELY start saying NO! until we get a fair fee! After all, the reason these institutions seek out field inspectors is so they don't need to hire PERMANENT regional employees to do the work. I'm a single parent, and at this point I'm in it for the long haul because I need to put the kid on the bus and be home when he gets off the bus, and I need a schedule I can control. Which is another issue more and more lately, the "middleman" wanting to control the schedule, too. STOP THE INSANITY!!! Let's get these people where we want them!!!! Or force the institutions to hire us directly and forego the cut the middleman takes!
