Thumbs up for a timely Hub! We just lost our schnauzer :( age 10 to cancer. We want another dog. But in an attempt to minimize our expectations- it would be hard for another schnauzer to measure up to Herschel- I promised to look at other hypoallergenic dogs. You have given me a long list to examine. I am so very grateful to you, as I was about to do the research myself!!!

I didn't know dogs can be hypoallergenic. I always thought that you are either allergic or not allergic to them.

Most of our dogs are rescue types but this is good information to know for people who are highly allergic to dogs and would like their companionship. One could look for these types of dogs even in animal shelters. Thanks!

Thanks Peggy I saw a show on television that was talking about this and it made me want to write a hub about it.
