great Idea and Hub Post!
this article is just like all the other pipe dream articles, it just tries to convince you how great it is but does nothing about telling you how to get business and how saturated this market is. this is just another content hungry site that will fill the internet with worthless information
This Hub have a very good idea with so many foreclosures out there it is a way to make money some good money. Many people that have been in this situation have to take what they can to a smaller apartment or even a room they rent so they can not all ways take all their belonging and have to leave behind things. Cleaning out the home and getting rid of whats left behind will sure make it easier on the banks or agencies that have to go into the home later.
please provide info on how to get started doing this work. This is general knowledge, and is useless as a result...
Guy,
I have to agree with you 100%. It seems there are a handful of people out there waiting for an opportunity to make money out of you with some weak or undeveloped plan on how to start this business. I have been in this field for sometime now and I can atttest to you that the biggest problem falls on contractors already providing these services.
Unless they are trying to recruit you into their business, most of them won't share the information or experience they have acquired with someone new in the field. The myth or misconception is that the more you learn from them the chances are their profits will decline. Well, let me assure you that is not the case. There is a lot of money to be made in this field and that is mainly because foreclosures continue to increase as the economy declines. Places where before the housing market was booming are now facing shifting economies causing people and businesses to leave. Although, this might sound cruel and insensitive, now seems the perfect time to spot those areas for someone with the understanding of preserving these properties.
You want information that could get your business running right away, well to be honest that information is not there wide open or in front of your face. But I will tell you what I have been doing....I started as a sub for a contractor in order to get familiar with the mechanics of the business. This part has been really hard for me because the contrator is not sharing information. So, things like the price that was bid by the contractor or the discount he offer to the M&Ms is totally undisclosed to you. As a result, you end up under bidding on the work orders you received from your contractor. Meanwhile, your contractor is taking already a percentage (your discount to him), thus making your profit even smaller.
I know one thing for sure and that is I have learned to challenge the prices they try to make me believe are fair; do that and you can almost bet you will be given a fair shake.
I have set my LLC a year and half ago and although, I have the name registered, a website built, business account, Tax ID number, an accountant (well actually I already had an accountant due to previous business), etc... I have not been able to strike gold yet. This business take times to develop more than mosny to invest into it. The variable of time is just not the length that it takes but rather the perfect timing for it to explode and expand. Meanwhile, I just keep learning the ropes and supporting my LLC through my contractor.
I agree on the comment saying theres all these great ideas with not enough info to really even send a person in the right direction but thats how it is. I have learned from being out there in this field that theres alot to learn. You have to really do your own research, if this is what you want. Try to get all the knowledge you can and people are going to mislead you so get ready! I am here to tell you its not as easy as they are putting it out to be. I have about 1 year into to this and I still have a hard time getting the info I need... With that said do your own homework and good luck everything I know came in time AND FROM MY OWN HUNGER... no ones going to take your hand and walk you to the right lead, prepare, educate yourself,& stay on it!
